For most of the fiction writers, the act of writing is not just the expectation of revenues from the sales of their product; and, it neither is just the perky fancy to become famous or glamorously celebrated world-wide; except, perhaps, if you desire fame for the sake of fame and recognition.<\/p>\n
It is something else. It is the craving to communicate our internal world, to reveal wishes and disappointments, and to express perceptions and experiences.\u00a0 Drawn from reality, imagination and our senses and sensibilities would determine fiction and both the action and the output in itself are pleasing for the writer; because the writer intends to satisfy own desires by partaking into the concerns of others, real or imaginary, and, for a short period, to be content in solitude.<\/p>\n
So, most of us are humble word-workers rather than boasting individuals. We continue to toil in writing, despite our transitory disappointment, and I could say hurt, if and when our work is rejected by a literary agent or agents for whatever reason. I\u2019d call this a \u2018rejection pain\u2019, and it was a plentiful \u2018happening\u2019 to myself \u00a0when I was seeking representation for a traditional publishing of \u2018SHARING HER APPLES\u2019, my debut novel.<\/p>\n
At the time I felt like everything \u00a0was at a fault: the theme, the language, the style, the plot and whatever; I must admit that to some people the abuses of women, in particular during armed conflicts, as described in the story, and the act of seeking revenge for them, is not a pleasant theme to think about.<\/p>\n
Yet I felt that rape, any rape wherever happens seems to me worse than the crime of killing someone; the reason being the lingering, torturous memories a victim carries for always, which, in the struggle to coping with the happening, may change the victim\u2019s personality and not always for the better.<\/p>\n
Believing in my writing though, and battling with the disappointment for a few years while discussing the topics with other writers having similar experiences with agents, I decided to have it self-published through a reputable, honest, small publishers, FYLATOS PUBLISHING, who did a remarkable job for a \u00a0remarkable story as some of my readers say.<\/p>\n
Now, and while still writing another story, SHARING HER APPLES is being translated into Greek and hopefully, it will be out for my Greek readers early next Fall.<\/p>\n
